The colonnade area
A double wall formed the base wall of the colonnade, internally coated with coloured plaster; on the other side there was a line of columns coated with white plaster, called ‘rudentate’ for the cylindrical rod placed in the groove. They rested on marble bases. On the paved space a tank opened. In front of the columns, on a lowered floor, a duct fed the water reserve and a tank was possibly home to a flowerbed. After the first half of the V century A.D., the spaces between the columns, the northern side of the road was closed by blocks of calcareous moulds. In one part of the base wall a seat was discovered. This implicates the creation of an environment which was distinctly closed to the rest of the colonnade.
